"Judge John Moeng Moses Motlatis Mpeli sentenced to life in prison for the brutal rape of a six year old girl on December 3," Nathi Mncube, spokesman for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said.
The court heard that the girl Mpeli shop had sent to him to buy something. He ordered her to get into the house when she returned, but she refused. Mpeli picked her up and carried to his room where he raped her. He threatened to kill her if she told anyone would what happened. The girl told her mother about the rape told. The police searched his house and a T-shirt and blanket with blood.
Prosecutor Amanda Bester in aggravation of sentence said the court should Mpheli show no mercy as his victim sustained permanent leb injuries. The girl has already undergone four operations.
