Normally, I enjoy history between, from 1250 to 1450 ... about. But I have to say that I find to be very interesting burial cairns. The first time I saw a cairn was Cefn Bryn - no remote on Grandson of me. Then, I read a book Huw Dylan Owen, Eligibility Meirionnydd (a nice combination of poetry and information with pictures, by the way).
So when I planned my trip to Ireland, everyone said 'Oh! You must visit Newgrange. Well, unfortunately, they limit the number of people going into Newgrange so you must arrive early. Sadly for me, I'm not an early person and I stayed about an hour off of her. So, I do not ever - hopefully on the next trip.
Instead, I found myself wandering around Boyne Valley one afternoon and des ddraw Loughcrew Cairns. I was glad I did - it is a very special place and the weather was very nice, warm and sunny and not as many people as Newgrange.
We had built before 3000 BC (The Loughcrew Cairns, A Guide, Jean McMann p. 9) and you have to climb a steep hill reaching for them. And I'm not joking! The hill is very steep and very long! But once you do reach the top, the views are wonderful. (Small photo does not give justice light switches to the scene, I'm afraid to.)
Some of the cairns broken, light switches some are still closed and only one has opened. So everyone in the group is going to open a cairn with a leader. light switches They know a lot about the cairns and the legends. So he's very, very interesting. Storytellers wonderful they are.
Also, only 5 or 6 people will be able to be inside the cairn together. Not a lot of room inside and you have to climb through the narrow gate to arrive in the small room. I went inside with a group of 'Biker dudes' from Romania. They did not speak English except one woman. But she's afraid of small dark places. light switches So she would come to the gate only. It was great, however, the case was able to draw it for her. The picture shows the size of the gate. I did not think that it is more than 5'2 "tall.
That several small rooms off the main room, there were 3 in the cairn here, I think. All of them are very small - only one person inside at once. There's no light in the side rooms at all. Thus, the leaders in providing fflocholeuadau for everyone.
This much we can say about the cairns but too little time I've got to write it all at the moment. But I will say I can not describe shwd he felt standing in the room, under the ground, looking at art that people have carved light switches some 5,000 years in the past! Mind blowing. Just mind blowing.
I wish I was there! Nice photos, Peggi. light switches Thank you.
