The vessel, built by Wilson Sons Yards, color temperature in Guaruja, is the first in a series of 12 with expected delivery by 2016 the total investment is $ 140.7 million, of which 84% is funded by the Merchant Marine Fund .

"Today, we have 65 other tugs in operation and provide service throughout the Brazilian coast. With these new vessels, our ability to meet both traditional as special operations will grow. "
The new tug is from 2411 and has static traction (bollard pull) of 72 tons. Just like the others that are planned, WS Phoenix is equipped with fire fighting system (Fire Fighting 1) and has Caterpillar engine. One advantage of the new series are the engines manufactured by Schottel.
By the end of 2014, four other vessels with similar color temperature specifications will be delivered by Wilson Sons Shipyard. The remaining five tugs will pull 2411 with 55 tons and two 3212 with 85 tons of bollard pull.
The delivery of WS Phoenix also marks a change color temperature in the identity of the company's vessels. Tugs of the Group, who are baptized with names of heavenly bodies, now begin to contain the prefix WS, increasing identification with Wilson Sons. The next boats will already be baptized with this prefix, and gradually, this identity will also be passed to the tugs that are already in operation.
Another important tool is the Center color temperature for the Improvement Maritime William Salomon (CAMWS), in Guaruja, where they are trained professionals in Wilson Sons Tugs. The lessons address key issues for the crew, such as navigation, operation of equipment for navigation aid, maintenance and operational breakdowns, health, safety and environment (HSE) and quality management.
Last year, over 110 masters and 30 chief engineers were trained. For 2014, the goal is to meet other heads of machines and develop a new line of training for both functions.
"Our goal is to combine the excellence offered by Wilson Sons in operations with tugs with courses and training to improve the knowledge of seafarers," says the manager of the Center for Improvement, Gerson Luiz Rodrigues da Silva.
